EMPLOYMENT SERVICES and OPPORTUNITIES

 

MISSION: To help the TANF Applicant or Recipient become self-sufficient by insuring access to the resources needed to achieve this self-sufficiency.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

  • It is a collaboration by DFCS with employers, education, training, and support service providers.
  • It provides support services such as childcare assistance and transportation to training activities while in an applicant/recipient status.
  • It provides job readiness activities such as resume preparation, interview techniques, dressing and other related areas.
  • It provides assessments to determine job readiness such as basic skills and career aptitude evaluation.
  • It assesses to determine barriers to self-sufficiency such as substance abuse, mental health issues, and domestic violence.
  • It provides short-term job skills training if possible.
  • Single parent households are required to participate in a minimum of 30 hours per week in appropriate activities.

ELIGIBILITY - Applicants and recipients of TANF must participate in Employment Services.
